new songs: The Hold Steady

Attn: everyone

You're in for a treat. In my impulsiveness I have purchased file hosting space on this very Inter Net. Now I can share stuff of quality above and beyond what can normally be found around here.

Let's kick things off right. Here are some new Hold Steady songs from an appearance on the wonderful 89.3 The Current. "Stuck Between Stations" is particularly beautiful - it's a story of teenage life in Minneapolis told with love and not regret, romanticized in the way Craig Finn & co. do so well.

I'm telling you, any other year and they would have beat Sufjan for #1. If you've been putting off listening to this band, now's the time.

Without further ado:

The Hold Steady - You Gotta Dance (With Who You Came To The Dance With) (live on The Current)

The Hold Steady - Cattle And The Creeping Things (live on The Current)

The Hold Steady - Stuck Between Stations (live on The Current)

Check out a little interview with Craig Finn, find out if he's really the druggy people take him to be and see how he plans to win over the world.

Stream some quality music (seriously, it's good music and it's aacPlus) at The Current.

I've always been a rarities/covers/demos junkie, and today Berkeleyplace gave me my fix with the Top 20 Covers of 2005.

And Enjoy.

Fantastic stuff!
You wouldn't happen to have a copy of "Curves and Nerves" would you? It is the only Hold Steady song I cannot find anywhere...

Thanks for the note. How about that acoustic version of Modesto is not that Sweet? I heard it on MPR but couldn't figure out how to save it...

Glad to find a version of "Stuck Between Stations," which I've heard them play twice now, and it gives me chills. It's a beautiful piece of work. The acoustic version available here is very good, but the full version is, like, rapturous. A thrilling song.
