Everyone should know that Chromewaves, one of my favorite blogs, has his Top 10 list up. The National, had he numbered them, would have been #1. Today he's linked a video performance of the band in SPIN's office, check it out here (via Chromewaves). If you haven't yet, you can see for yourself how awesome these guys are. The self-loathing in the lyrics comes through on stage as Matt Berninger writhes and bounces, and makes for a fascinating (if slightly uncomfortable) scene.

National got overshadowed by Clap Hands Say yeah on their tour, but I think National has much better lyrics.
I put up the National's show on the Black Sessions in Paris from 4.29.05. I definitely agree that they got overshadowed by CYHSY. Great band, check out their earlier releases as well...good stuff.
